🦾 Vox Next Gen — Autonomous Home Companion Robot
Vox Next Gen is my Master's dissertation project and a major evolution of my Bachelor's thesis robot, Vox. The project keeps the original vision of an approachable home companion while rebuilding its core systems for greater capability, reliability, and autonomy.
The current enclosure design is modelled in Fusion 360 and remains an active design draft. The new version introduces this redesigned case alongside an improved movement system. Its conversational AI is being developed for faster responses and a more natural-sounding voice, while voice commands will let the user start and stop movement hands-free.
Computer vision will add object and face recognition. A gyroscope-based mapping system will help the robot understand the home layout so a user can ask it to navigate to a particular room. Combined with obstacle avoidance and autonomous driving, these capabilities will let Vox move through a home more safely and independently.
